Client document collection

Collect documents from clients without chasing email threads

SendMeDocs turns a loose email request into a secure checklist your client can complete from any phone or computer.

From request to received

Named items make it obvious what to upload

Each requested document becomes its own item. The recipient uploads, your team sees the status, and the back-and-forth in email goes away.

  • List every document up front
  • Status updates as each item arrives
  • No client login, no portal invite

Built for the messy middle

Email is easy to send and hard to track. A full client portal is organized but usually too much friction for a one-time upload.

SendMeDocs sits in between: a named checklist your client can complete from any browser, and a dashboard that tells your team what arrived without scrolling four threads. Most small firms use it alongside the tools they already have, not as a replacement. For a deeper look at the recipient experience, see the client upload portal page.

Use it when the request is specific

SendMeDocs is strongest when you already know what you need and want the client to send it back cleanly.

It is purpose-built for itemized requests: a tax-prep packet, an onboarding bundle, a credentialing file, an immigration evidence list. If you instead need a public-facing form anyone can fill out, that is Jotform or Typeform territory. For repeat document asks, save the checklist as a template once and reuse it. The tax document collection page shows how this plays out in practice.

Questions

Do clients need an account?

No. Recipients open a secure upload link and send the requested files without creating a SendMeDocs account.

Can I send requests by text message?

Yes. SendMeDocs supports email and SMS delivery for upload links. SMS is useful for the clients who do not check email reliably.

What does it cost?

Pay-as-you-go is $0.50 per request. Monthly commitments start at $12 and include a self-serve HIPAA BAA. There is no per-recipient or per-user surcharge.

How is this different from a Dropbox or Box file request?

A file-request link drops files in a flat folder with no per-item checklist and no per-recipient status. SendMeDocs is built around named items and an itemized record of what arrived and from whom.

Is anything stored long term?

You set the retention window per request. Files auto-delete on that schedule so old documents do not sit indefinitely.
